Dear Families,
No doubt you will have heard of the Victorian Governments announcement of changes to education and Covid 19. Over the coming weeks we anticipate the return of children to the Centre, and increased numbers for before school care and after school care. In order for us to prepare for this transition we need an indication of those families returning. On May 26, students in prep and grades one, two will resume classroom learning. By June 9, all students in state, independent and Catholic schools are expected to be engaged in face-to-face learning. We ask all families with school aged children who have used our before and after school care this year to notify us by email to confirm their attendance;

A note from the office
Welcome to our May edition of our newsletter. We just wanted to thank all our parents that have been so patient and understanding with us over the past month. This has been a difficult and trying time for all of us, hopefully we are through the worst of it. As we head into this new world of social distancing and online communication and learning we are all working hard to make the best of the situation and we look forward to this new challenge. Thermometer and health checks We are continuing our temperature checks each morning. We will continue this indefinitely to ensure all children and our educators attending the Centre are healthy. Please remember if your child displays any symptoms of running nose, fever, tiredness, dry cough, nasal congestion, sore throat, or diarrhoea, we will take measures for them to be collected. If your child requires pain relief in the 12 hours prior to their intended day of care they are not to attend the Centre. Covid 19 Update We are currently awaiting news scheduled from the Government on Monday May 11th. We will keep families up to date on any new information provided to us. Returning to Care When it’s time to transition back into care please note that you child may feel a little anxious attending the service again, please take your time if needed at drop off and understand the educators will be able to assist you with any concerns you may have. Try and use lots of positive communication with your child about returning to care, “Wow you are going to have so much fun today!”, “How exciting you get to play outside on a playground today!”. Our phone is always on so you may call at anytime to check on how your child is settling. If you are thinking of returning, please ensure you speak with the Centre Directors as there is a priority of access at the moment. If you are not working, it is recommended that you still keep your children home. Mother’s Day We would like to wish all the beautiful Mum’s, Grandma’s, and Carer’s a wonderful Mother’s Day, you all do an amazing job especially under these uncertain times. We have a little Mother’s Day stall situated in the office if you would like to stop buy and purchase anything. All gifts range between $1 to $4 Remote Learning Our educators are working hard on providing you with weekly updates on what is happening in the rooms. Please be patient as they are doing their best to work hard within these trying times. Some activities have been mailed out to Kindergarten children and please understand that Australia post are doing their best and there may be a slight wait on receiving these activities. If you are not receiving any emails from us, please let us know. Cooler Weather Now we are coming into the cooler months, please ensure you pack warm attire including winter jackets, beanies, jumpers and long pants. We will still aim to provide the children with outdoor play, so we need to keep them as snug as a bug 😊. Website Launch Our team has been working hard finalising our new website, we hope to launch this next week. Our website will provide families information in regard to enrolments, up to date news on both services, our philosophy, health links and much more… Biggest Morning Tea On Thursday 28th May both Woodlands and Lonsdale House will be taking part in the biggest morning tea and would love to have you all be apart of this day. The services will be running a teddy bear picnic in the rooms so for those children staying home we would love you to set up your own teddy bear picnic and please email us a photo. The Biggest morning tea raises money for the Cancer Council, if you wish to donate please follow the link: https://www.biggestmorningtea.com.au/donate Reconciliation Week This year both services will acknowledge Reconciliation Week on Wednesday 29th May through to the 3rd of June. The educators will be in touch to let you know what activities they have planned for the week. Keep safe everyone and stay healthy Dear Families,
The month of May has arrived and so have those wintery days of chilly wind and frosty mornings. Now more than ever it is important to take care of each other and to stay healthy. Children may not get to venture outside as much due to cold temps, wind and rain however our team will make every effort to give them have a play outdoors. Before and After School Care Just a reminder we are running the before and after school care programs out of Woodlands House in Ocean Grove, Monday to Friday. We are running one bus for each session, with the pick up at night order of Ocean Grove PS (3.20pm), Our Lady Star of the Sea (3.30pm) and Wallington PS (as soon as possible after this pick up). We have discussed the later collection with the Wallington PS principal to ensure the children are supervised until we arrive. If you require care please email us if you need this service. Children returning For any families wishing to return children to the Centre in the near future, please call and speak to Bec, Teri or Kristy-Lee to ensure we can place them in. Priority of access is given to children of essential workers, vulnerable and disadvantaged children, and previously enrolled children. Casual Bookings Due to increasing numbers we are finding it difficult to accommodate casual bookings. Many families have started to enquire if they can return their child to their booked days so we need to ensure these are available to them. Please see Bec or Teri if you are needing a casual day.
