HOW TO ENROL
Waiting List
Chances are, if you know about child care then you know about wait lists, they go hand in hand. Although it may sound a little extreme, pregnancy is a great time to start.
The first step at our Centre's is to register your family via our online waiting list , through My Family Lounge. Once, registered you need to complete the 'Contact', 'Child' and the 'booking requests' section. The Directors will then monitor spaces which may become available and offer positions as they arise, according to priority of access. The Waiting list links for both Centres can be found in the 'Our Centres' tab above.
Enrolment and Orientation Procedure
At Woodlands and Lonsdale House Childcare, we feel it is imperative for both the child and parent to feel safe and secure in the environment provided. Families are invited to meet the educators and an orientation process will be outlined that best suits the child’s needs. Orientation is an important time for building trusting relationships. We allow time to explore your cultural beliefs, child rearing practices and the expectations you have for the care and education of your child. It is not only an opportunity for educators to become familiar with your child and your family but also for you as parents to become comfortable with the educators who will be caring for your child. We recommend a minimum of 3 orientation visits for your family to give time for this to occur. There is no charge for attendance during the orientation process.
Separation
When your child first commences at the service, they may experience some separation anxiety. OUr hope is through our orientation process your child will become familiar with their new surroundings. It is important, however that parents deal positively with this anxiety in order for children to settle quickly and feel safe in the knowledge that their parents will return. For example, always say ‘goodbye’ to your child confidently and reassure them that you will return. Never just ‘slip away’. Parents are welcomed to contact the centre by telephone throughout the day to check on their child’s progress.
If you have any concerns about your child’s ‘settling in’ process, please do not hesitate to speak to our Room educators or a Director.
